It is no secret that the cost of homes everywhere in America is at an all-time high, but some spots are always going to be a bit more expensive than others. Iowa overall is a great place when it comes to pricing, you can clearly see that when looking at the most expensive city on the list which has a typical home value of $546,841 which is 189% higher than the state average of $189,531.

A team over at Stacker.com came together to give us a list of the most expensive homes in the great state of Iowa.

The Numbers

Stacker got these numbers using data from Zillow. For this, we are going to look at the top ten spots and cities.

10. Polk City

Our first stop on this list brings us to Polk City. With a typical home value of $375,398, and a 5-year price change of +33.5%. This city is in the Des Moines and West Des Moines area and starts our pricing pretty high.

9. Clive

The typical home value is $376,254. With a  5-year price change of +31.3%. Clive is found in the Metro area of Des Moines-West Des Moines.

8. Adel

The Metro area of Des Moines-West Des Moines seems to have a solid amount of cities with high home values, and Adel is one of those with a typical home value of $380,566. The 5-year price change is one of the highest on the list at +37.9%.

7. Solon

Feels weird seeing my hometown here, but when I grew up here it was still a pretty small town. Over the last 20 years, Solon Iowa has blown up. With a typical home value of $397,736, and a 5-year price change of +33.3%. This spot finds itself in at lucky number 7.

6. Okoboji

A popular vacation site for many Iowans, I saw this one coming. The typical home value is $399,516. The 5-year price change is +32.3%.

5. Wahpeton

You can also find this spot in the beautiful Spirit Lake metro area. It has a 5-year price change of +32.5%. The Typical home value comes in at $461,390.

4. Cumming

With the typical home value of $473,984. The number four spot is in the  Des Moines-West Des Moines metro area and has a 5-year price change of +38.6%.

3. Shueyville

I technically grew up in Shueyville and drove to Solon for school, both spots are very close to one another so it makes sense that they are both in the top 10 on this list. The typical home value comes in at $485,304. The 5-year price change is +32.0%.

2. Orleans

Located in the Spirit Lake metro area ( which has a total of 4 cities on the top 30 list.) The typical home value is $495,245. The 5-year price change is +28.3%.
