Surprise! Miranda Lambert Joins Morgan Wallen for Hit Song in Knoxville [Watch]
Morgan Wallen performed a double-header to sold out crowds Friday and Sunday nights (Sept. 20, 22) in Knoxville, Tenn. — hometown shows for the megastar.
Neyland Stadium fans got to hear "Quittin’ Time" and "Talkin’ Tennessee," but they also were gifted surprises.
On Sunday night, Wallen was halfway through his set when he let the crowd know a special guest would be taking the stage with him.
“I brought this song into the room, and I needed a lady’s perspective to help me write a song for my mama," Wallen explains in video captured during the Sept. 22 concert (below).
The song he is referring to is his hit "Thought You Should Know," which Miranda Lambert and Nicolle Galyon helped him write for his mother, Lesli Wallen.
"We drank a lot of vodka and wrote this song for my mom," he continued as Lambert took the stage.
In a cowboy hat and blue fringe, the Texan took the stage beside the Knoxville native, and the crowd showed their respect with wild cheering.
It was the first time he and Lambert have sung the song together since writing it, Wallen told fans.
Lambert has been an outspoken champion of Wallen's. During a recent interview with Taste of Country Nights, she noted that she thinks Wallen should take home CMA Entertainer of the Year in 2024, and why he deserves it above others.
"I respect him as an artist. He is really authentic to who he is,” she says. "He's playing for stadiums full of people, for multiple nights. That's entertainment, you know?"
Lambert wasn’t the only famous friend to grace Wallen's Neyland Stadium shows over the weekend. On Friday night, Eric Church sang "Quittin’ Time" with him, Hardy joined Wallen to sing “Up Down,” and Ernest took the stage for “Flower Shops" and “Cowgirls."
In addition to Lambert, Sunday night's show also featured a surprise appearance from Darius Rucker to sing "Wagon Wheel."
Adison Haager is the host for Taste of Country’s popular social media platforms. She brings the latest interviews with artists such as Jelly Roll, Ashley McBryde, Lainey Wilson and more, producing them to Taste of Country’s YouTube, TikTok, podcasts and website.
