More Albino Deer – This Time in Illinois – What’s Happening?
Native Americans believe that the appearance of a white deer symbolized the spirit realm and was a messenger of coming change. Other legends from various European locations also place a spiritual significance to a white deer (or stag) showing up.
Albino deer are a 1 in 30,000 occurrence
Last week an albino deer was spotted and filmed in Jefferson County Missouri, then over the holiday weekend across the Mississippi river in St. Clair County Illinois another albino deer was spotted and filmed in a rural corn field.
An albino deer is rare. How rare? 1 in 30,000 rare. So then how rare are two within miles of each other separated by a big river. The river is big enough that the JeffCo deer is not the same one as the one in Illinois. But, this begs the question; the Missouri and Illinois deer appear to be around the same age, could/would a buck with that recessive albino gene somehow swim the Mississippi?

It’s possible. White tail deer will occasionally go for a swim, and traversing the big river is not out of the question. There's even an account online of someone seeing a whitetail in the Atlantic ocean some five miles out…(?!?!).
Just an odd occurrence? A harbinger of change? Or a symbol of the spiritual world reaching out? Can’t say for sure. But there are at least two albino deer in the rural parts of the St. Louis metro area this summer on either side of the river. Strange things are happening.
