Universal Studios has North America theme parks in Florida and California. They are well attended and feature immersive experiences for popular movie franchises like Harry Potter, King Kong: Skull Island and Jurassic Park.

Immersive experiences are where theme parks are making their mark. Fans want to feel like they have been dropped into the middle of the world of those beloved characters. Universal is in the process of opening a new destination in Las Vegas called Universal Horror Unleashed.  Immersive Horror. Universal also announced plans to open an immersive horror venue in Chicago by 2027.

Universal Horror Unleashed Chicago will be situated in old warehouses (perfect!) across from the future Bally’s Casino that is planned for Chicago Avenue and Halstead. This will not be a seasonal hub of horror. Horror Unleashed will be a year-round venue.

Classic Universal horror characters like: Dracula, the Mummy, Phantom of the Opera, Frankenstein’s monster and others. Remember, Universal was the company that planned on building a horror movie universe. While that never gathered momentum, the immersive horror venues may just have staying power.
