Two re-opening stories in 2024?! That definitely wasn't on my bingo card for this year but I'm here for it.

Back in March, a Davenport sub shop game back from the grave and has since re-opened. Well, after being closed for almost 1 year exactly, the movie theater off of John Deere Road in Moline will also be re-opening. Sure, it will be under new ownership than before but it will be great to have two movie theaters in the Quad Cities and one on each side of the river.

Prepare yourself because VIP Moline 14, part of the VIP Cinemas family, will be opening very, very soon.

Regal Cinema Closes In Moline

On July 20, 2023, Regal Cinemas in Moline closed due to a “landlord decision,” according to KWQC. Owned by Cineworld, the world’s second-largest movie theater chain, Regal was one of the locations closed by Cineworld after the group filed for bankruptcy.

KWQC reported that the company said it struggled to rebound from the impact of Covid-19 restrictions.

VIP Cinemas Giving Life Back To The Movie Theater

When we were at the stop at the UScellular off of John Deere Road the other day, I thought to myself, "That's a lot of HVAC and electrical cars at the old Regal theater. I wonder if something is coming there or if they are just parking their cars." Nope, they were actually doing some work, assumably.

But it has been officially confirmed on the VIP Cinemas website that they are scheduled to open VIP Moline 14 at the theater at 4101 38th St. in Moline on Thursday, July 11, 2024

VIP Cinemas is a family-owned and operated chain of movie theaters with locations in Illinois, Indiana, and other states. They say they are dedicated to providing our communities with a high-quality cinematic experience and do this with low prices on tickets and concessions, clean and comfortable auditoriums, family-friendly environments, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
