The Story

Over the holidays, mother Ashley Lynn celebrated Christmas with her nine-month-old son and her grandmother.

Grandmother bought the young boy a toy from Walmart. It was a colorful remote with 15+ buttons that make sound effects, play a melody of 9 songs, and flash LED lights. The worst part of the toy, however, is the series of inappropriate jokes it tells.

In the video, TikTok user @mamabearash explains her frustration about the LINSAY brand toy purchased at Walmart.

She said in the video that her son was playing with the toy when all of a sudden her grandmother heard it say something about a drive-by shooting.

The "Jokes"

Ashley thought, "no way" and decided to start pushing buttons on the toy, to her surprise she heard these "jokes" spoken by the toy.

  • "How many Catholic priests are required to screw a lightbulb into its socket?... Two... One to do the screwing and one to hear the confession."
  • "Tom told his friend, 'My brother has a job with 10,000 people under him.' His friend replied, 'WOW he must be the CEO of a corporation.' Tom said 'No, he cuts the grass in a cemetery.'"
  • "You'll never guess what makes a clip-clop, clip-clop, BANG BANG, clip-clop, clip-clop, sound... An Amish drive-by shooting."

Ashley along with other parents were appalled after hearing these voice recordings in a child's toy.

Calling The Store

After the finding, Ashley reached out to Walmart and told them what happened.

Walmart said a third-party seller listed it on their site, and they've stopped selling it.  Other sites have pulled it down as well, including Lowe's, Macy's, Office Depot, and ShopHQ.com.

We Searched For The Toy

We looked up the toy online to see where we could find it. Many stores no longer sell it but we did find it listed for $32.95 on a website called ShopMyExchange.com. (Don't google it, it might be sketchy).

We found the description of the toy funny because it says, "While older kids will love adding this remote to their imaginative play, babies will love exploring the different buttons, textures, and sounds."

Haha, yeah, these kids will LOVE imagining Amish drive-by shootings. GREAT IDEA!

And then under the product description, we found this comment from someone named Hunter who bought the toy...

1 out of 5 stars - Hunter

"INAPPROPRIATE JOKES!! Do NOT buy this!! There are a number of jokes on here involving: Catholic priests and screwing, Amish drive-by shootings, a joke about Santa, an honest lawyer, and the easter bunny not existing but a drunk man existing and a lawyer willing to pick anyone’s side in a car wreck case. I don’t know how the PX reviews toys, but I wonder if they do at all. This IS NOT for babies, let alone kids! How on earth?!?! I wish I could give no stars! Do better exchange!!"

The Moral

The moral of the story is don't buy this toy, and maybe test the toy you purchase for your child before you give it to them.

Have a nice day.
