For some people, the most peaceful relaxing places on earth are the beach, the mountains, the lakes, the rivers, or maybe just a hidden trail in the middle of a forest.

If you can't have the luxury of living and working in a place that keeps you in that kind of landscape all the time and you need to live in a city, then perhaps one of the most peaceful cities in America will be the perfect balance for you.  Two of those cities happen to be in Iowa.

So how did Money Inc determine the most peaceful places in America?  Well, even they admit that personal preferences are going to matter depending upon what level of "peace" you need to be calm and relaxed.

Some people don't feel peaceful unless they are on a subway in New York City.  Which most of us would consider crazy.  So the website took a look at many factors when looking at cities that could offer what most consider peaceful to come up with their Top 20.

If you have no family ties to the Midwest and Iowa then maybe you can explore other peaceful places in America.

Places on the list include, (with author comments on some of them)

  • Bullalo, New York (way too much snow and cold)
  • Durham, North Carolina
  • Honolulu, Hawaii (you'd think this would for sure be a peaceful place to live, but actually it's plagued with a lot of the problems big cities have.  Traffic, pollution, crime, etc.)
  • Boulder, Colorado
  • San Diego, California (hope you have a lot of money for this "peaceful location".)
  • Plano, Texas (If you can live, work and play in Plano you might be able to find your peace.  But if you need to drive anywhere in the Dallas area your peace will quickly vanish)
  • Madison, Wisconsin
  • Bismark, North Dakota
  • Fargo, North Dakota
  • Sioux Falls, South Dakota (The Dakotas did not pay for this article)
  • Lincoln, Nebraska

And number 1 on their list of Top 20 Most Peaceful Places To Live In America is Green Bank, West Virginia.

But that isn't Iowa's only city to make the list.  Coming in at number 12 is Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  The author says,
