There are small scams happening every day around the country that most of us just accept because what choice do we really have?

There is no shortage of scams or scam artists in Illinois, as we've seen over the last couple of months. However, an off-shoot of the "Imposter Scam" that was recently used on a New Lennox man is one of the nastier cons/scams/tricks going on.

For those who've been told that the reason their package(s) has been delayed because of "tariff issues," or "tariff delays," you should feel reasonably certain that you're being scammed or being set up to be scammed. Here's what the Better Business Bureau says you should be doing.

Why would a Hollywood legend need gift cards or cash from an average everyday Illinois resident when that legend is worth hundreds of millions of dollars? If you get a text from "USPS" saying your package couldn't be delivered due to an invalid zip code, do not fall for it.

If you've received a text from an unusual phone number or email address saying you have an outstanding balance on your Illinois tollway account, it's most likely a scam.
