An Extreme Cold Warning has been issued for several counties across Eastern Iowa. Schools in those counties have decided to delay opening doors today by 2 hours.
Round 2 of snow which will be followed by snow is heading to Iowa and Illinois this weekend. Snowfall totals could get up to 4 inches in some areas with extremely cold temps starting Sunday.
A dangerous Arctic Blast bringing extremely cold weather to Iowa and the northern half of the U.S. is on the way. Temperatures will get close to zero and wind chills well below that.
Eastern Iowa will see more snow dumped on it this weekend. It won't be much but travel could be impacted early Sunday morning. 1-2 inches expected to fall overnight.
We know that many Illinoisans will need to get the snow blowers and shovels out following a massive winter storm this weekend. Chicago has a chance of snow as well but that remains in the air.
Driving conditions are quickly deteriorating in Iowa as the first snowstorm of the year makes its way across the state. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued in preparation for the storm.
