America’s Worst Chocolate Brand Is Sold In Wisconsin
Wisconsin really has countless options when it comes to mass-production of chocolate. Who doesn't love chocolate? Apparently there is enough hate for one brand in particular to justify making this list. I do wonder though, how do you judge if chocolate is bad? I'd imagine it's subjective, but apparently not. This is just in time for Halloween.
It looks like the way you judge chocolate is not by taste, but by the public perception. Along with the things these companies have done to stay on top that have been covered by the media.
How They Are Judged:
24/7 Wall St. came out with a list of chocolate brands to avoid based on factors that go beyond just flavor.
So, you’re looking for a better chocolate that doesn’t taste like wax? Perhaps you want a chocolate that doesn’t mistreat and underpay those who work on the bean farms or lie about being fair trade on its packaging?
They went on to explain how most brands have their issues.
Maybe, just maybe, you want to indulge in some chocolate treat without worrying that the ingredients include child labor and exploitation? Doing so might sound simple, but it is actually much more difficult than it seems.
The "Worst" Chocolates:
The top seven are as follows,
7. Lindt
6. Ferrero
5. Godiva
4. Mondelez
3. Hershey
2. Nestlé
The Number One Worst: "Mars"
Mars includes popular candy bars such as Snickers, Twix, and Milky Way. The following quote is one of the reasons this brand was put on the list.
Why should you avoid Mars chocolate? While the company has made promises to change the way it produces chocolate, those promises remain unfulfilled. In 2001, the Washington Post wrote that their promises to eliminate chocolate made by slave labor from their factories were not kept.
As of now reports have gone on to say that none of these deadlines were met.
