I think I watched more TV in 2020 than I have in my whole life. From scripted series, documentaries, and reality TV, I truly watched it all. But on top of watching everything new that came out, I also found myself going back to binge my comfort shows. I think a lot of people re-binged their favorite show during quarantine. Some people even binged it multiple times.

A new study looked at each state's favorite TV show. Zippia details -

We looked at the top 100 most, highly ranked TV shows from IMDB, the internet database of all things movies. We culled out some shows that were mini-series but otherwise bowed to the people’s wisdom. From there we referenced Google Trends data from the past twelve months and came up with the most statistically significant, unique TV program in each state.

So what were the states watching?

I'm right there with the rest of Illinois. Give me all the "Friends"! Wisconsin agreed and loved "Friends" as well. 12 states had "Friends" as their favorite, making it the runaway favorite. The next most popular was "The Umbrella Academy" that popped up for four states. It's kind of hilarious that the most popular TV show is one that premiered in 1994.

Honestly, if you need a show to binge and don't know what to watch, look no further than this map. There's really a show for everyone. From "American Horror Story" to "Grey's Anatomy", the options span a pretty wide range of show topics.

But like most "Friends" fans, I think I'll just keep rewatching those 10 seasons for the rest of my life.
