Spring has sprung! You're going to pry hear that for the next week or so. You wouldn't know it if you step outside today. Spring officially arrives at 11:15 a.m. (or something like that).

When I was a kid, one of the sure signs of spring was the Dairy Queen opening up at the top of my block on Locust Street in Davenport. That's when I learned everything was right with the world, because I could get out my bike or my skateboard, baseball season was right around the corner, and the days would get longer so I could hang out with my friends until the street lights came on at like 8:30 p.m.

According to KWQC, Dairy Queen is celebrating the beginning of spring with a free small cone at participating, non-mall stores. Dairy Queen will also be collecting donations for the Children's Miracle Network. Last year, DQ contributed almost $300,000.

I can still make the famous DQ curl.
