Chicago to Quad Cities Amtrak Service Takes Another Step Forward
For those of us in the Quad Cities that want to go to Chicago but don't want to deal with traffic and parking there may be light at the end of the tunnel.
That light is a train coming down the tracks.
The recently passed Illinois State bill that included $225 million in state funding for new Amtrak service from the Quad Cities to Chicago took another big step forward on Wednesday when Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth secured commitments for the route.
At last week's FAST Act hearing a commitment from the Federal Railroad Administration was made to provide IDOT what they needed to finalize agreements to advance the Quad Cities to Chicago passenger rail.
There is no timeline for the start or completion of this project.
