Claire’s Locations Closing Soon In Illinois

Brick-and-mortar stores have seen some rough years. Malls have gone through a lot of changes to stay relevant. One recent headline stated:

Claire’s filed for bankruptcy on August 6, 2025 — and yep, this isn’t the first time. It’s actually the second time in the past seven years that the chain has had to file for bankruptcy protection. That definitely says a lot about how tough things have been for some retail stores lately.

This has caused some confusion about whether it’s closing or not.t. Cheaspism reported,

The company is hoping to maximize the value of its business during the bankruptcy process, presumably in hopes that it will attract buyers who want to keep the business going. There are no immediate plans to shut down the company, but it may eventually happen if Claire’s doesn’t stabilize its business.

• Newpark Mall, Newark, California
• Market Street, Lynnfield, Massachusetts
• Bay City Town Center, Bay City, Michigan
• Northtown Mall, Blaine, Minnesota
• Livingston Mall, Livingston, New Jersey
• Uniontown Mall, Uniontown, Pennsylvania
• Shops at Highland Village, Highland Village, Texas
• Pinnacle at Turkey Creek, Knoxville, Tennessee
• Junction Commons, Park City, Utah
• Provo Town Center, Provo, Utah
• Woodinville Plaza, Woodinville, Washington

This list came from Cheapism and it looks like one location in Illinois is closing.

In court filings, Claire’s announced that 18 of its roughly 1,300 of its Claire’s and Icing locations will close. We don’t have an exact date for when they’ll each be closing, but we do know that clearance sales at these locations will wrap up by September 7 at the latest.

Ford City Mall, Chicago is closing as well.

That spot will be closing sooner rather than later in Chicago Illinois.
