Leaders of both Rock Island and Davenport have issued curfews for Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The curfew in both cites begins at midnight for downtown areas of Rock Island and Davenport as well as the Village of East Davenport. Businesses in those areas will need to close at midnight. The curfew ends at 6 a.m. in Rock Island and 5 a.m. in Davenport.

Rock Island Mayor Mike Thoms and Davenport Mayor Mike Matson announced the curfew details at a press conference Saturday afternoon after both cities experienced violence overnight.

One person is dead and several others injured after an altercation in Rock Island.

According to OurQuadCities.com here are the areas affected by the curfew and details regarding who is exempt from the curfew.

  • Downtown Davenport– the area bounded by and including 15th Street on the North, Marquette Street on the West, the Mississippi River on the South and Arlington Street (from 13th Street North) and Tremont Avenue (from 13th Street South to the river) on the East.
  • East Village area – the area bound by and including McClellan Boulevard on the East from the Mississippi River to Middle Road, thence west along Middle Road to Jersey Ridge Road, thence south on Jersey Ridge Road to Kirkwood Boulevard, thence west along Kirkwood to Eastern Avenue, thence south on Eastern Avenue to 12th Street, thence west along 12th Street to Mississippi Avenue, thence south along Mississippi Avenue to the Mississippi River.

Exemptions of the curfew apply to those traveling to and from work, government officials, and credentialed press.
