Woman Arrested After Intentionally Setting Fire Outside Davenport Kwik Star
A Davenport woman was arrested after officials say she intentionally started a fire outside a Kwik Star on East Kimberly Road and later threatened police officers with a knife.
Fire Reported Near Propane Storage Late Friday Night
The Davenport Fire Department responded around 11 p.m. on Friday, October 3, after witnesses reported flames near the store’s liquid propane storage cage. One witness acted quickly, using a fire extinguisher to put out most of the fire before crews arrived. Firefighters found light smoke still coming from the area and were able to fully extinguish it within minutes.
Fire Determined to Be Intentional
Investigators determined that the fire had been deliberately set. While authorities were still on scene, a woman matching the suspect’s description returned to the area, according to officials. She reportedly threatened officers with a knife and attempted to ignite the gas pumps before being subdued and taken into custody.
Suspect Faces Multiple Charges
The suspect, identified as 57-year-old Deanne M. Chanee, was booked into the Scott County Jail. She faces charges including first- and second-degree arson, assault on a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, interference with a weapon, and interference with official acts.
No injuries were reported during the incident. Officials say the investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released at this time.
