Get Original Art Painted by Niabi Zoo Animals
The animals at Niabi Zoo do more than lounge around and look pretty. Some of the creatures at our Quad City zoo have been busy creating art.
Several animals are creating artwork this month as part of the zoo's Animal Enrichment and Art Month programming. You'll have a chance to buy some of these one of a kind creations.
The art work will go on sale between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sept. 11, 12, 18, 19 and 25 on zoo grounds, 13010 Niabi Zoo Road, Coal Valley, Ill. Prices start at $10. Pretty reasonable for an original Colobus monkey creation.
The monkey can paint using his or her hands much like humans do, but other animals may use foot or handprints to create their original 'Picassos.' According to a Niabi Zoo news release, each piece of art is unique and come with a certificate of authenticity and a biography of the animal who made it, along with the process behind its creation.
The zoo staff is pretty jazzed about it.
In the past these original pieces of art have sold fast, so set a reminder on your phone and grab these cool creations before they're gone. Proceeds go back to zoo enrichment programs.
