This week WalletHub released its report on 2024’s States with the Most & Least Powerful Voters, as well as expert commentary. This report aims to highlight where people’s votes matter the most, and thus where people have the biggest responsibility to make their voices heard.

In this report, Illinois did not make it in the top 25 most powerful states for voting.

Obviously you as a voter are not weak, and everyone votes matters, but some states like the following appear to have a larger and more "powerful" affect on elections as a whole this year.

Most Powerful Voters - Presidential

None of these should be a surprise seeing as thought the are considered swing states.

1. Nevada

2. North Carolina

3. Georgia

4. Arizona

5. Wisconsin

In the end, Illinois would rank 27th for voting power this election season.

Most Powerful Voters - Senate

They also took a look at the election for the Senate. Illinois also did not make this list.

1. Vermont

2. Wyoming

3. North Dakota

4. Delaware

5. Montana

Again while Illinois may not be seen as a strong voting area due to it not being a swing state, you should still vote. Wallethub Analyst went on to say,

“No matter where you live, you should vote in the upcoming election, as it’s your civic duty and gives you a chance to have a say in our political system. At the same time, it’s evident that not all votes hold the same weight. The top five states where residents’ votes will have the biggest impact in the 2024 election are all fiercely-contested battleground states: Nevada, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Wisconsin. If you live in one of these states, you could quite literally have the fate of the election in your hands.”

I'm just excited for the political ads to final end.
