Iowa Gov. Ignores White House Task Force Recommendations for Quad Cities
A task force at the White House issued recommendations that Iowa mandate the use of masks and close bars in our state's biggest cities including the Quad Cities.
So far Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has done nothing to implement those recommendations.
According to a Des Moines Register article, the new recommendations were included in an Aug. 9 report from the task force. Dr. Deborah Birx, the leader of the task force discussed the recommendations with Iowa's state epidemiologist Dr. Caitlin Pedati.
The report says bars should be closed, gyms should be closed or operate at 25% capacity and social gatherings should be limited to 25 or fewer people in 17 metro areas and 48 counties.
Those areas included the Des Moines metropolitan area, Council Bluffs, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Dubuque, Iowa City, Ames and the Quad Cities.
