When you think of parts of the country that sin the most, you probably think of areas that are warm, have a lot of people, or where big cities are. Truth is, we all have vices and virtues that would be considered sinful. Even though we all aren't perfect, some people in some states could use a quick moral check.

A new survey has come out from our friends at WalleHub that ranks each state from the most sinful to the least sinful. To find out which states are more sinful than others, WalletHub compared the 50 states across seven key dimensions, which are really the seven deadly sins:

  1. Anger & Hatred
  2. Jealousy
  3. Excesses & Vices
  4. Greed
  5. Lust
  6. Vanity
  7. Laziness

WalletHub examined those dimensions using 47 relevant metrics. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the highest level of sinfulness.

Finally, WalletHub calculated the overall score, or WalletHub Vice Index, for each state based on its weighted average across all metrics and used the resulting scores to rank-order the states.

Before we get to finding out where Iowa and Illinois landed, let's see which state was the most sinful and the least sinful. According to WalletHub, Nevada was the most sinful state, with an overall Vice Index of 55.69. Wyoming was the least sinful state with an overall Vice Index of 25.19.
