Iowa Represent! 2 Iowans to Compete on “American Idol”
Not one, but two artists will represent Iowa on "American Idol" this season.
This Sunday's episode of the show will be the auditions. Sam Moss (from the recently tornado-struck Winterset) is a country music performer. The other Iowan to audition is Haley Slaton, from Cedar Rapids.
Moss will host a virtual watch party Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. if you can't make it to a TV. She's documenting her "American Idol" journey on her Instagram page (handle: @sammoss_music). Get more info on how to sign up for the watch party on Sam's website.
Sam and Haley will audition for celebrity judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. They're not the first Iowans to compete. In fact, Clarksville native Maddi Poppe won "American Idol" back in 2018.
This season marks (can you believe it) the 20th season of "American Idol". It will air Sunday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m. on Local 5.
Haley (who was pregnant at the time) auditioned last October and sang "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus and Adele's "One and Only". She spoke with KHAK in Cedar Rapids.
Meanwhile, Sam said her parents are okay after the tornado tore through Winterset a few weeks ago. For the last several years, she's been working as a composer in Chicago, creating songs on commission for special events. She decided to audition for "American Idol" in a spur-of-the-moment decision. We don't know what songs she'll be singing yet but I'm sure they'll be great!
We are definitely cheering for these two Iowans in their auditions on Sunday!
