Those underwear in the photo look like they've been properly laundered and are, dare I say it, April fresh (even though it's still March).

That's what you're looking for if you decide to get into the game of breaking world records, at least here in the Midwest.

You may wonder what clean underwear on a clothesline has to do with breaking a bizarre world record that was set back in 2012 in Naperville. That's a great thing to wonder about, because this sort of record-breaking requires clean underwear.

Trust me.

In September Of 2012, The Record For Most People Wearing Underpants On Their Heads At The Same Time Was Set In Naperville, Illinois (and I'm sure the city was bursting with pride up until this week)

If you've wondered why Naperville keeps getting honored with titles like "Best Place To Live In Illinois," I guess you can stop wondering. Setting records for underwear on heads is the kind of stuff a town needs to do to get noticed, apparently.

Was it just a spontaneous outbreak of people needing to walk around Naperville with underwear prominently displayed for all their neighbors to see and enjoy?

Not really.

The occasion was a visit to Naperville's Anderson's Bookshop by Dav Pilkey, the author of the Captain Underpants book series that has been wildly popular for years.

270 People In Naperville Showed Up That Day To Set The Record, And That Record Has Had A 12 Year Run---But It Was Just Topped By Some People To The South Of Us

The City Museum in St. Louis is now the proud holder of the world record for most people wearing underpants on their heads at the same time, by managing to gather 355 people to do it yesterday, March 14th, 2024.

They were hoping for 314 people because St. Louis was celebrating 314 Day in honor of the St. Louis area code, but with the added underwear-wearers they went well past their goal.

The City Museum in St. Louis is no stranger to setting world records, having done so with the world's largest pencil, the world's largest tennis racket, and the world's longest see-saw.

According to UPI.com, they also hold the "unofficial" world record for the world's largest pair of underpants, which of course, they keep on display at the museum, because why wouldn't you?
