The film 'The Miracle Season' is now showing on Netflix. The movie tells the true story of the 2011 Iowa City West volleyball team and its captain, Caroline 'Line' Found. The film follows the team as it recovers from the sudden death of Found and its road back to the championship.
How Did Caroline 'Line' Found Die?
According to the Iowa City Press Citizen, Found died in August of 2011, shortly before the start of her senior year at Iowa City West. She died in a moped accident as she was on the way to the hospital to visit her mother, who was dying from pancreatic cancer. The Press Citizen reports that the movie focuses on her teammates, family, and her coach overcoming the tragedy and winning an improbable state championship.
Who Stars in the Movie 'The Miracle Season'?
The Press Citizen reports that the 2018 film features Oscar-winning actress Helen Hunt as Iowa City West's head coach Kathy Bresnahan, and actor William Hurt as Found's father Ernie. Actress Erin Moriarty plays Kelley Fliehler, one of Found's best friends, who would take over as the setter on the Iowa City West team.
The movie has a rating of just 53% on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 6.5 on IMDB. If you missed it in theaters, you can watch the inspiring true story this weekend on Netflix.
