Iowa’s Field of Dreams Will Once Again Host an MLB Game

The magic of a major league baseball game at the Field of Dreams is set to return in 2026!

There is nothing in sports like a visit to the Field of Dreams movie site near Dyersville, Iowa. The 1989 movie still looms large for many, including myself. The fantasy film about an Iowa farmer plowing up his crops to build a baseball field seems like a bit of a stretch. But the movie is about more than baseball. It is about human connections and relationships, and that one last 'catch' with your dad.

In 2021, fans flocked to a new temporary stadium built near the movie site. Heck, even Kevin Kostner himself walked out of the corn! The first game at the Field of Dreams featured the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox. In 2022, the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals played at the site.

But then, the movie site was sold, and the temporary ballpark was taken down. But now, according to KCCI and numerous other sources, Major League Baseball is coming back to the Field of Dreams!

When is The MLB Field of Dreams Game?

KCCI reports that while MLB will release its full 2026 schedule on Tuesday, several sources have confirmed that in August of next year, an MLB game featuring the Minnesota Twins and the Philadelphia Phillies will be played at the Field of Dreams. The event will be a home game for the Minnesota Twins.

More details are likely coming this week on an exact date for the game and when fans can expect tickets to go on sale. Stay tuned!

Field of Dreams Game Featuring the Cedar Rapids Kernels

Cedar Rapids was the Bunnies for the day as they played the Quad Cities River Bandits, who were the Davenport Blue Sox. Both were an ode to team names of the individual cities nearly a century ago. Played on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, it was the first minor league baseball game ever played at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa.
