As many of you know by now, the outdoors is a place I like to be; hiking and exploring with my wife and kids, foraging for berries and mushrooms, or hunting pheasant and deer with my father, or father-in-law. I enjoy all these activities. But just like Sam I Am in green eggs and ham, I've never been joined on my hike by a goat. Now, a Galena-based company is offering you that exact experience.
The company is called Hoof It; Goat Treks at Wooded Wonderland, and they have an interesting and fun experience for those of you with an affinity for the outdoors and goats. At Hoof It, they welcome everyone of all ages.

So what the heck is a Hoof It Goat Trek?
The goat trek in Galena, Illinois is an experience you’ll cherish and remember. The trek explores the wooded property and prairies that have been in the owner's family for four generations. The goats follow trekkers along the way and enjoy hand-fed treats. The hikes last about 45 minutes to an hour (depending on the goats’ energy) and are one and a 1/4 miles long. The trail is suitable for all ages and most abilities along the Galena countryside.
All of Hoof Its guides have an inherent knowledge of the land and the animals. They have grown up on the property, raised their families there, and are excited to share it with the public.
Christina Eisbach, Hoof It's land steward, has spent endless days exploring every corner of the land she grew up on. She had a vision, where the land could "support your every need, and in turn we support the needs of the land, through education, enjoyment, and exposure–enabling us to thrive and fulfill the vision." Those thoughts were the birth of Hoof It.
They offer several different experiences as well. Events like Hoof It & Sip offer up a chance to enjoy a trek with goats along with your favorite glass of wine.
Yup, enjoy a sampling of 6-1 oz tastings from a local vineyard and winery. Bonus, wines are paired with goat cheese (of course) and others. Must be 21 to attend, no exceptions.
They also host Hoof'n & Groove'n events; a goat hike followed by LIVE music around the fire. Make sure to bring your own food and beverages or order pizza for delivery. S'mores are provided.
