Iowa parents will soon have another shopping option for their babies.

Back in 2017, Toys R Us, the parent company for Babies R Us, filed for bankruptcy, thanks to $5 billion in longterm debt. The last time that the company had drawn a profit was 2013, according to Des Moines Register. But now they're making a comeback.

After having all of it's stores closed by the 2018 holiday season, the company is getting ready to open 200 new stores nationwide and 2 of them are set to be in Iowa.

The new Babies R Us locations across the country are actually moving into Kohl's, according to Parents. The ones in Iowa will be:

  • Kohl's in Ankeny (1935 SE Delaware Ave.)
  • Cedar Falls

The new Babies R Us inside Kohl's will be between 750 to 2,500 square feet and will have popular brands of baby gear, furniture, accessories, activities, and more. Kids' clothes in Kohl's will stay where they already are. Here's what it's projected to look like inside Kohl's:

If you're expecting, there will also be a Babies R Us registry option available for the new locations too.

This isn't the first time that the company has opened inside of a large retailer. In 2022, Toys R Us opened a few new stores and launched popups inside of Macy's locations.

Many parents on social media are thrilled about the announcement. There's not an opening date yet for the Iowa locations, but the first new Babies R Us is set to open in August 2024.
