Bridge Repairs To Force Ramp Closures On Bridge In Illinois
For those working at the Rock Island Arsenal or planning on visiting very soon, you need to know about some bridge repairs that will force lane reductions and ramps to close.
Starting on Monday, Sept. 18th, crews will be doing repairs to the Arsenal Bridge on the Illinois side of the Quad Cities. The construction is expected to last a week but crews won't be working too long each day.
Moline (Arsenal) Bridge River Drive Ramp/Lane Restrictions
Earlier this week, officials from the Rock Island Arsenal Directorate of Public Works announced that repairs will be done to the expansion joint on the Moline (Arsenal) Bridge.
The repairs will begin on Monday, Sept. 18, and are expected to finish on Friday, Sept. 22. Repairs will begin on the outbound (west) lane and then transition to the inbound (east) lane.
Inbound/outbound ramp and lane closures will be limited to 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.
Which Ramp Will Be Closed First?
Officials say the off-ramp from the Arsenal to River Drive will be closed to all outgoing traffic while the outbound lane is being repaired (8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.), The ramp will re-open when work transitions to the inbound lane. Outbound Arsenal traffic will still be able to leave the Moline gate via the 14th Street ramp.
When work transitions to the inbound lane, the on-ramp from River Drive to the Arsenal will be closed to all incoming traffic (8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.). Inbound Arsenal traffic will still be able to access the Moline gate via the 14th Street ramp.
Detour signs will be placed from River Drive to 15th Street to 5th Avenue to the 14th Street ramp and flaggers will provide traffic control when restricted to a single lane at the construction zone.
