November is National Diabetes Month and Hy-Vee is ready to help folks get and stay healthy.

According to a release from Hy-Vee, they will offer 1,500 free A1C screenings at select stores. The screenings show average blood sugar levels over the last 3 months to help you figure out if you have prediabetes or diabetes.

Stores that are offering the screenings include the Edgewood Hy-Vee and Mount Vernon Hy-Vee in Cedar Rapids, College Square Hy-Vee in Cedar Falls, Crosspark Road Hy-Vee in Coralville, Ames West Hy-Vee in Ames, Asbury Plaza Hy-Vee in Dubuque, and many more in Iowa. In Illinois, the Macomb Hy-Vee is the only one offering the screening. Five Wisconsin Hy-Vees offer the screening as well.

If you want a free screening, you have to register online first. Then a Hy-Vee dietician will contact you to schedule a screening based on availability.

If you have prediabetes, diabetes, or gestational diabetes, Hy-Vee has a virtual program that will be available to you. It's an "action-based virtual group" intended to help you reduce sugar intake, control cravings, and reduce inflammation.

If you do the virtual program, you'll get a pre-program A1C and biometric screening, 4 hour-long sessions, and post-program screenings.

Also in November, there will be Virtual Freezer Meal Workshops for families to help you save time and money and learn how to meal prep. The course will include learning to prepare 5 different meals. It's a $10 registration fee and you can register online at this link.
