There's a spring heat wave heading to Iowa and no one is upset about it. Sure, it's going to be abnormally warm for this time of year, but are you going to be mad when highs are in the low 80s? I didn't think so.

That's right, bust out those tank tops and shorts. We're going to see highs in the low 80s in our Iowa area with other parts of Iowa seeing highs close to 90 on Sunday and Monday.

Unfortunately, this hotter weather isn't here to stay. We'll see the heat come and go as fast as it feels like it does when summer arrives.

Heat Wave Coming To Iowa

Did someone call for summer temps this spring? All of us? I thought so. It's going to feel like summer to wrap up the weekend and on Tax Day.

Officials with the National Weather Service say we're going to have 'unseasonable warmth' in Iowa this weekend. Temps will range from the lower 70s in north Iowa to the mid-80s on Saturday. On Sunday, most of the state will be in the 80s to wrap up the weekend.

Warm, Dry Weather Isn't Welcoming News For Iowa Farmers

If you've seen the drought monitor lately, you know the warm temperatures and lack of rain isn't good news, especially for those in parts of eastern, central, and northern Iowa.

The National Weather Service of the Quad Cities shows us in this graphic just how bad drought conditions are. There is some rain in the forecast for next week but it's going to most likely be strong to severe storms which also isn't good.

Strong To Severe Storms Possible On Tuesday

After these awesome warm temperatures, we'll have a decent risk of strong to severe storms in the area.

Highs will slowly start to go down and next week progresses. Highs are expected to get back down into the upper 50s by next weekend, according to the TV6 First Alert Weather Team. That forecast is, of course, susceptible to change.
