Illinois' SAFE-T act came down on one Joliet woman.

Back when we were kids, did anyone else have to go in the backyard to cut your own switch when you were in trouble? Or you for sure didn't do something because you knew you'd get in trouble? According to Patch, one 66-year-old lady got in trouble for a heavy swing of that technique.

Yvonne Jimerson in the Joliet Township has been in the Will County Jail this week on 2 charges of aggravated battery and 2 crimes of domestic battery. She was processed and released.

What Happened?

Jimerson allegedly beat her 13-year-old foster son pretty hard, as he had to go to Silver Cross Hospital for his injuries, as witnessed by his 15-year-old brother.

When asked why she did it, Jimerson said:

Yeah, I hit him. He was out there putting the oranges in the air and letting them hit the ground and fall.

She says she has been their foster mom since they were born and the reason she hit her son was because food shouldn't be played with and she said she needed to teach him a lesson.

The boy's brother said he saw Jimerson push his brother by his neck against the wall and hit him across his arm and across his face. A 17-year-old girl told deputies she was actually the 911 caller and that this isn't the first time that their mom has hit them.

Will County Judge Ken Zelazo agreed that the SAFE-T Act's detention standard has been met for Jimerson.
