Mercado On Fifth Is Adding A Cover Charge

Mercado on Fifth in Moline will be adding a cover charge for anyone who wants to visit the event.

Mercado on Fifth says that they have "grown to a point where it will require a cover charge to be sustained". A Facebook post from Maria Ontiveros, Mercado on Fifth Co-Founder and acting Director, detailed the new changes coming soon to the event.

This is part of an effort to deter "ongoing negative behaviors of unaccompanied minors reported by staff and patrons", according to Mercado. Here's the post explaining the changes:

Starting on June 30th, Mercado on Fifth will require a $5 cover charge for visitors 13 and older. 

Kids 12 and under can get in free with a paying guardian. Teens 17 and under have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Ontiveros went on to say:

Funds collected will help ensure Mercado remains a clean, safe and enjoyable event for all who visit 5th Avenue for great food, music and retail. As much as we are here to provide a platform for minority-owned businesses, safety is our utmost priority. We need the help of all attendees to make this happen.

Meanwhile, the next Friday night at Mercado on Fifth will feature Crooked Cactus Band and Quad Cities Ballet Folklorico. They are in their 7th season in Moline that will last through September 29th.
