Miami Teacher Made Her Students Watch A Horror Movie In Class

A fourth-grade teacher in Florida got in trouble for letting his kids watch a movie in class "Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey", the live-action HORROR movie that came out this year.

Michelle Diaz was extremely upset about how The Academy of Innovative Education, a charter school in Miami Springs, had dealt with complaints about a teacher she felt was careless with his students. Diaz had just left a meeting with the principal and expressed that she felt completely abandoned by the school.

Diaz shared that her twins in fourth grade were upset by a movie that their math teacher played on Monday, October 2nd. The movie, "Winnie the Pooh, Honey and Blood," was rated NR and was about two murderers who terrorized a group of young university women, with one of them wearing a Winnie The Pooh mask. Diaz said that the teacher did not stop the movie even though some children were asking for it to be turned off.

Diaz was shocked that the students were allowed to select the movie and stated that it was the teacher's responsibility to evaluate the content. The Academy of Innovative Education, which operates independently of Miami-Dade Public Schools, employs its own staff due to being a charter school.

Reaching Out To The School

CBS News Miami reached out to the school's head, Ms. Vera Hirsh, who issued a statement. It acknowledged that the school had become aware that a portion of a horror movie had been shown to fourth-grade students and that it was not appropriate for that age group. The statement also mentioned that the school's administration addressed the issue with the teacher and had taken appropriate action to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. Additionally, the statement indicated that the school was monitoring the situation and providing counseling to students who had expressed concerns.
