Why Is The Rescue Closing?

The organization did not provide a specific reason for the closure, but leaders described it as a heartbreaking decision.

In its announcement, the rescue acknowledged that the outcome was not what supporters had hoped for, while expressing pride in everything that had been accomplished over the years.

"To our amazing Village of supporters and animal lovers,
After much reflection, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close our rescue and clinic operations.
This is not the ending we had hoped for, but we are incredibly proud of what we accomplished together. Because of the support of our volunteers, donors, partners, and community members, thousands of animals received care, found loving homes, accessed affordable services, and were given a chance at a better life.
To everyone who adopted, donated, volunteered, shared our posts, attended our events, or simply believed in our mission—thank you. Every life we touched was possible because of you.
While this chapter is coming to an end, the impact we made together will continue in every animal helped and every family strengthened along the way.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our village.
With gratitude,
-The It Takes A Village Team"

Since opening its doors, It Takes A Village became one of the region's most recognizable animal welfare organizations. Through rescue efforts, adoption programs, affordable veterinary services, and community outreach, the nonprofit worked to improve the lives of both animals and the families who cared for them.

How Many Animals Did The Organization Help?

Over the years, the rescue helped thousands of animals receive medical treatment, find loving homes, and gain access to services that may have otherwise been out of reach.

Much of that success was made possible through a large network of volunteers, foster families, donors, and community partners who supported the organization's mission.

The rescue used its closure announcement to thank everyone who contributed to its work, including those who adopted pets, volunteered their time, donated resources, attended fundraising events, or simply supported the organization's efforts from afar.

While the organization may be closing, its legacy lives on through the countless pets that found homes, received care, and were given a second chance because of the community that rallied behind its mission.
