Heatwave Settles In Over Rockford and Chicagoland

According to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, high temperatures are about to warm up into the 80s, with a couple of days possibly in the 90s.

On Wednesday (9/10), the high is expected to hit 80 in Rockford, then up to 82 on Thursday, and the weekend starts in the upper 80s on Friday (9/12).

Weekend in the 90s and Possible Thunderstorms

With less than a couple of weeks left before Fall arrives on September 22, we will get another round of Summer-like temps for this weekend, and most of next week.

Weather Channel is predicting a high around 90 degrees for the Rockford region on Saturday (9/13), Sunday (9/14), and Monday (9/15), and still in the 80s through next Thursday, September 18.

Currest forecast from the National Weather Service has a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms late Friday night (9/12) and overnight into Saturday, and a 25 percent chance of showers and a stray thunderstorm on Sunday (9/14).

Chicagoland Warms Up Through the Weekend

Temperatures in Chicago will start to warm up this weekend, but won't be as hot as the suburbs, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs will be in the upper 70s on Wednesday (9/10), and Thursday (9/11), then push up to 82 for Friday, and 87 Saturday. Highs stay around 80 through next Tuesday (9/16).

When Do We Get Back to Fall-Like Weather?

The extended forecast from the Weather Channel is predicting temperatures in the Rockford region will cool down beginning a week from this Sunday, September 21, when the high is expected to be in the lower 70s, and lows in the upper 40s.

According to the Old Farmers Almanac, the first frost in Rockford is expected October 12.
