Support A Veteran To Be Buried With No Family Wednesday At Rock Island Arsenal

On Wednesday a Veteran will be laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetary.  Unfortunately, Airman John Loren Olson has no family and is scheduled to be buried alone.  But, the Quad Cities can change that at his ceremony.

Rock Island National Cemetary

The Rock Island National Cemetary was established in 1863 as an area to bury Union soldiers who died while serving as guards at the large Confederate prison camp established on Rock Island.

Over time the cemetery has been the final resting place for many American Veterans.

John Loren Olson,  November 30, 1948 - July 9, 2023

Airman Olson will be buried at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 6th at the Rock Island National Cemetary.  The Quad Cities can honor Mr. Olson as this Veteran will have no family in attendance.

All visitors are required to enter the Rock Island Arsenal over the Moline Bridge, which is accessed from 14th Street, Moline, IL.

Visitors will need a pass for installation access.  You can see what you need if you do not have a pass here.

Fresh-cut flowers may be brought to the ceremony and placed at the grave site.
