Quad Cities Heart Walk Rallies Community to Save Lives
The annual Quad Cities Heart Walk is Saturday, June 14, at the Schwiebert Riverfront, where we will walk together to save lives while raising essential funds to advance lifesaving research, increase CPR education and training, and drive equitable health for all people.
This year's Heart Walk will highlight local survivor Avery Muetting and remind the community of the critical importance of supporting heart health.
Avery Wants You To Know About Heart Health
The Heart Walk campaign aims to raise crucial funds for cardiovascular research and increase the number of lifesavers in the Quad Cities.
Avery has seen the research used firsthand. She was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2022 and received a heart transplant. Today, Avery lives life to the fullest, dancing and spreading the word about heart health.
Avery's mother, Chelsea, shared her perspective on the cause: "When your child is diagnosed with complex heart conditions, like Avery's, your world stops. We are incredibly grateful for the research, advancements, and support from the American Heart Association, which have been instrumental in Avery's journey and allow her to live a full, active life. Participating in the Heart Walk is our way of giving back and helping ensure more families facing heart failure have the resources and hope they need.”

Event chair Scott Naumann, Director of Business Development at Milestone Construction Company, echoed the importance of community involvement. "We envision a future where at least one person in every household knows CPR," said Naumann. "The impact of having a trained, confident lifesaver in every home across the metro cannot be overstated. The Heart Walk helps us move closer to that reality.”
He added, “This event brings a sense of connection and teamwork that comes from rallying people around a shared mission. It is inspiring to see the community come together not just to raise funds, but to actively build a network of individuals ready to save a life.”
