For more than 150 years, John Deere has been a big name in the tractor game. With Iowa's rich history in agriculture, the iconic John Deere green has kind of weaved itself into the culture of the Hawkeye State.

The Waterloo factory and John Deere Tractor & Engine Museum has also been a huge draw to the area for decades. John Deere initially set his sights on Waterloo back in 1918, according to historians.

Now, in honor of 100 years of the Model D Tractor, the Waterloo facility will be organizing a 5K.

The John Deere Tractor & Engine 5K will be a celebration of the century that this tractor has been in circulation.

The event will take place Saturday, May 20th at the Waterloo museum which is located at 500 Westfield Avenue. There will be two big races that Saturday morning. One of them will be the Kids Spoker Sprint which will take place from 7:30 AM-8:00 AM.

Then the official 5K will be kicking off at 8:00 AM and is expected to go until 10:00 AM.

After crossing the finish line, the fun will continue!

Event officials confirm that there will be even more family fun with children's activities, awards, AND the museum will be open afterwards for visitors to check out.
