On Friday, the Le Claire Police Department took to social media to warn residents of multiple vehicle break-ins early Friday morning.  In Friday's social media post, officials say that the department has taken multiple reports of vehicles that were broken into in the early hours of Friday morning. Officers were working hard to keep up with the calls while processing/fingerprinting the vehicles and logging all evidence.

Officials say that from Friday morning's break-ins, there have been two firearms and two vehicles stolen but one vehicle was recovered.

Le Claire Police Department officials said in the social media post

"We do not take these crimes lightly. We will do our best to identify the suspects, but we need some help from the community."

Officers are asking that any residents with security cameras, please review them for any suspicious activity from the hours of 2 a.m. until about 6 a.m. Friday morning. Police say they are especially interested in any videos of an older model gray Ford Escape, a silver 2015 Chevy Tahoe, or a 2005 white Range Rover.

Residents who find any video that they believe could help with this investigation, please email the footage, along with your name, address, and phone number, to tnicholson@leclaireiowa.gov.

Officials ended the post by saying,

"As always, PLEASE remember to remove your valuables AND LOCK YOUR VEHICLES. We pride ourselves on being such a safe community, but unfortunately, these criminals know that and take advantage of it."

Police believe the thieves targeted the area because they expected doors to be left unlocked. Officials ask residents to not make it easy on them.
