
Macy’s Stores Closing In Illinois This Year
Earlier this year, news broke about 150 Macy's locations closing across the United States. This announcement came alongside several other national brands also closing certain locations. Some major locations closing are in New York, Florida, Texas, and Illinois.

Next up on the list is Macy’s, an iconic department store. The chain is in the midst of downsizing, and the company just released a list of store locations on the chopping block. Here’s what we know about the closures, and the full list of stores.

Recently, Macy’s released a list of 66 stores that will close as part of the first wave of closures. The closings are designed to “return the company to sustainable, profitable sales growth.” Some have already closed, while the others will close by the end of the year. The Macy's in White Oaks Mall, Springfield will be closing along side of hundreds of others throughout the United States.
In total 22 states have locations closing that you can see here. Out of the Midwest states, Ohio, Minnesota, Michigan, and Illinois are closing a total of nine Macy's locations, with Michigan closing the most—four out of the nine. Hopefully, we don't see more closings this year.
