Different work places are looking into mental health days due to how unpredictable and high strung this year has been. Professionals have been on board with the idea too, therapist Amy Cirbus stated,

By taking mental health days, you're placing equal value between your mental and emotional well-being and your physical well-being.  It's an acquired skill to be able to determine when you need a mental health day, but well worth the effort."

"Breaks" in American cultural in the past have sometimes been seen as weak, but now that so many Americans are on the same page when it comes to the stresses of 2020, breaks, and mental health breaks have become more wildly understood and accepted.
