Midwest Ale Works Announces New Name for Flagship Beer
I'm on vacation but I had to check in with Glenn Cole from Midwest Ale Works in East Moline. So, I saddle up to the porch bar & chatted with Glenn about a bunch of things.
First off...we've been talking about the renaming of their flagship beer...Classic Kolsh. They have picked a new name. Over 200 suggestions came in and Thomas Benson came up with "Old Maud".
The largest car manufacturer in the early 1900's was in Moline...the Vellie 30 was the first one they made and was nicked named...Old Maud. It all makes perfect sense since MAW is currently in an old car manufacturing plant. Thomas is going to get hooked up with some MAW swag (and some free beer, I'm sure)
They've also got a partnership with the Brantley Francis Foundation who positively influence pediatric cancer patients and their families. They've got a beer called Buzz Cut prickly pear & watermelon wheat beer. When they release the beer there will be a fundraiser encouraging people to shave their head or donate their hair to support the foundation.
While you're over at MAW try the All Together beer. The collab with Bent River, Radical Effect, Geneseo Brewing & Cat's Cradle. $8 a can...and $2 of each sale goes to help local hospitality workers.
