Stay with me here... drink more water.

This might sound a bit ridiculous and obvious, but a great, easy, and cheap way to help yourself stay healthy is just by drinking water. Drinking more water in 2022 is a great start to a new year, it could even be a belated New Year's resolution to challenge yourself to stay more hydrated.

According to PRnews, nearly 80 percent of working Americans say they don't drink enough water.

Most people only drink when they are thirsty, and that makes sense, but by the time you feel thirsty, you're already dehydrated. I think everyone has had the "I'm going to be healthier" New Year resolution that inevitably fails, and there's no shame in that. This could be an easy way to keep that resolution.

It can be very difficult to keep a workout schedule, pay attention to your intake, stay motivated and balance your regular life all at the same time. But, to help yourself gradually ease into a healthier lifestyle, try focusing on one aspect at a time. While you may struggle to find the time to work out or meal prep, you always have time to be drinking water and you should be consistently sipping on that H2O throughout the day.

With such a drastic percentage of the population not drinking water, it seems like a good time for everyone to educate themselves on the benefits of drinking water and the negative effects of not drinking enough.

Water has an insurmountable number of benefits. The human body is roughly 60 percent water making it a key component for every part of your body to function effectively. It might be a surprise to the average person that the brain and the heart for example are composed of up to 73% water, meaning dehydration can have an impact on things like energy levels, brain function, and blood pressure over time.

The average person should be consuming at least 8 cups of water per day which is roughly 2 liters.

I know, I know, this sounds like A LOT of water but it's important to remember that a great deal of water is excreted every day, even without exercise, by normal bodily functions such as respiration, perspiration, elimination, etc. So it's very important to continuously replenish the fluids lost.
