Reynolds Sets More Dates For Reopening Iowa
Saying Iowa is on the road to recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Tuesday that she was lifting more restrictions on businesses across the state effective June 1.
Starting Monday, speedways and racetracks can open their events to spectators. Amphitheaters, grandstands and other outdoor performance venues can also hold live performances, according to the governor's new proclamation.
Casinos, gaming facilities, amusement parks, bowling alleys, pool halls and arcades can also reopen – all at 50 percent their normal operating capacity and according to social distancing, hygiene and public health measures, Reynolds said.
Also starting Monday, social, community, recreational, leisure and sports gatherings of more than 10 people will be permitted again, with venues at 50 percent capacity or the level necessary to maintain adequate distancing. The proclamation also permits competition, practices and games for youth and adult baseball, softball, and individual sports (ie: running, biking, swimming, tennis and golf) to resume with proper social distancing.
During her daily press briefing Tuesday, the governor also amended the proclamation she signed last week that allows bar, breweries and wineries statewide to reopen Thursday at 50-percent capacity. Reynolds is now allowing live music in those venues, as long as group performs maintain social distancing among themselves and the audience. Reynolds said bars and restauants can also set party sizes up to 10 people.
