
UPDATE: Teen Charged After Threat Prompts Lockdown at North Scott High School
A 15-year-old student has been charged with threats of terrorism after a lockdown at North Scott High School on Tuesday afternoon.
Lockdown Triggered by Report of Possible Weapon
According to the Eldridge Police Department, a School Resource Officer was alerted to a potential threat involving a student who may have had a weapon on school grounds. As a precaution, the school was placed on lockdown while authorities investigated the situation.
Law enforcement and school officials acted quickly to ensure the safety of students and staff during the lockdown, which lasted while officers assessed the threat and located the individual involved.
Student Arrested and Taken to Juvenile Detention
Following the investigation, officers arrested a 15-year-old student. The teen is facing one count of threats of terrorism and has been taken to the Scott County Juvenile Detention Center, police confirmed in a media release.

Authorities have not released further details about the nature of the threat or whether a weapon was recovered during the investigation.
Police Emphasize Importance of Reporting Concerns
The Eldridge Police Department said it will continue to investigate the incident and reminded students and community members to report any suspicious behavior immediately.
“Reporting potential threats helps ensure the safety of everyone in our schools,” officials stated.
