Say it isn't SNOW.

After what felt like the longest winter on record, the Quad Cities has enjoyed a fairly warm summer. But, all good things must come to an end.

Make sure your shovels are in good working order because the Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting the QC could experience another cold and snowy winter.

The Quad Cities are located in what the Almanac calls the "Heartland" region, which also includes Missouri and parts of many other Midwestern states.

The Heartland region's winter forecast is rough, with below-normal temps and above-normal precipitation expected. The coldest months will be in January, February, and early March, and snowfall will be at its peak in December, the beginning of January, and mid-February.

The good news about this long-term prediction (if any) is that April and May 2020 are forecasted to be warmer than normal, so an early spring is still a possibility.

As always, we take the Farmer's Almanac forecasts with a grain of salt since it's not scientific. Relying on the expertise of local meteorologists is probably a wiser idea.
