Let's try this again. Weather didn't cooperate last week for the scheduled concert series kick off, so we'll try this again Tuesday night, May 25.

Troy Rangel and Friends will kick off the summer concert series in Rock Island at 7 pm in the Rock Island Lincoln Park band shell. Come early at 5 pm and you can purchase dinner or snacks from the Hy-Vee Grille.

Troy Rangel and Friends is a local group of musicians who customize their sets based solely on the audience. Troy says you can expect a good mix of jazz, funk, rhythmn and blues with maybe a bit of 50s, and 60s classics tossed it for a musical treat everyone is sure to love. You'll hear songs by The Beatles, Jackson 5, Sam Cooke , Santana , Otis Redding , The Isley Brothers , Aretha Franklin, and many more.

Troy will play guitar and you'll also hear Vey Rodriguez, Chris Castle, Tyrone Phillips and Cathy Caparula on vocals, Nervous Neal Smith on saxophone, Manuel 'DudeLopez on drums and Phil Bonilla on bass.

Here's the group performing, "Tin Man" on Troy's YouTube channel.
