Would You Like a Pickle Juice Slush?
How does a pickle juice slush sound to you? Sonic, the fast food drive in famous for their drinks, is rolling out the frozen concoction this June according to foodandwine.com. Food and wine says it's "a sweet slush flavored with pickle juice." You'll also apparently be able to put that pickle flavor in anything Sonic serves. Want pickle juice on your burger? check. Pickle juice in your Vanilla shake? sure, go ahead.
Food and Wine had a chance to taste the concoction and here's what they thought:
Sweet and tangy, the bright brine compensates for the over-savoriness you might have been worried about. You won’t understand why, but you’ll keep going back for more sips, likely until it’s all gone. Our only gripe is that the slush is a bit too sweet, as if overcorrecting for the acidity, but maybe this is what has to happen for America to acclimate to—and embrace—pickle-flavored soft drink.
The review went on to talk about how the slush paired nicely with Sonic's burgers, tots and corn dogs. Personally, I'm not a pickle guy, so I think I'll keep pairing up my cheese sticks and burgers with a shake. I would recommend Sonic's chocolate shake, and if you want to get more exotic, the coconut cream pie shake.
