When I was a kid, my Mom would pick up the phone and call the local butcher/grocer and read him her grocery list over the phone. An hour later, the van would pull up and often the butcher himself would deliver the groceries to our front door.

As major grocery store chains came to dominate the food shopping industry, home delivery became a thing of the past. But, one are grocer is bringing home delivery back. The Batavia, IL based Aldi is partnering with online delivery service Instacart to provide delivery right to your door.

The four Aldi locations participating are on Brady Street, and on Elmore Avenue in Davenport, along with Illinois locations on 38th Street in Rock Island, and Avenue of the Cities in Moline.

According to published reports, first-time Instacart customers can get free delivery of their first Aldi order of $35 or more using the code LOVEALDI, through May 31.

According to Business Insider, "Instacart charges $7.99 for one-hour delivery or $5.99 for two-hour or more delivery, and that the price can increase at busy times."
