No Need to Yell. Silent Disco Comes Back to Davenport’s Downtown Festival
Alternating Currents is coming up on August 19-21 in downtown Davenport. To say that there will be a variety of music, art, film, & comedy is an understatement.
Some of it will be so in your face and hard to miss...and others will be so quiet you may wonder what's happening.
Let me explain.
Squonk is described as "progressive rock meets puppetry". You may remember them from last year with the giant hand that looked like it was going to flick people away like bugs.
You'll be able to see Squonk perform six times that weekend, including evening performances with illumination, in the parking lot beneath the Skybridge.
The show schedule for Squonk is as follows:
Friday, August 19 at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, August 20 at 11:30 a.m., 7 p.m., 10 p.m.
Sunday, August 21 at 1 p.m.
Each show is 1/2 hour long followed by a "backstage tour" for audience members. Backstage tours follow each performance and are coordinated and led by members of Squonk.
My least favorite part of going out is the loudness. Insert "Old Joke" here but before you do...check out the young 'uns following suit.
Silent Disco will return to the Skybridge at Alternating Currents. Come party on the Skybridge as three DJs battle it out. You'll get headphones and can switch between the 3 DJs to choose your music.
It is a unique experience where you determine the music and you determine the volume. It’s easy to be social because there is no music to talk over.

QC Arts are looking for volunteers to help with set up, tear down, set load in/out, manning the info tent, and chaperoning the set of SQUONK during hours it's not in use. Visit https://bit.ly/3oM280k to sign up. All volunteers must be 16+ for Squonk, 21+ for Silent Disco.
