You know autumn is just around the corner. All schools are back in session and high-school football kicked off last night.

2 - Davenport Central opened the high school football season with a win last night. A full slate of games are on the docket for tonight. Details and scores when we do That Sports Thing at about 7:40am.
3 - The inaugural Alternating Currents festival kicks off today in downtown Davenport. It's one of the Top 10 Things to Do This Weekend that we'll cover when we do That Entertainment Thing at around 8:40am.
4 - The Quad City Times reports that Davenport City Council put the brakes on a five-story multi-use development for the East Village last night. The developer says he needs five-story to be profitable, but it is the size that opponents say will ruin the character of the village.
